Abida Islam appointed as Bangladesh envoy to Republic of Korea



The Government has decided to appoint Abida Islam as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of Korea.

 A career diplomat, Ms. Islam belongs to the 15th batch of BCS Foreign Affairs Cadre. In her distinguished diplomatic career, she served as Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. She also served in Bangladesh Missions in London, Colombo and Brussels in different capacities. Currently she is serving as Director General (Americas) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abida Islam successfully completed several professional training courses at home and abroad, and represented Bangladesh at a number of International Conferences, Seminars and Summits on a variety of issues. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Science (Sociology) from the University of Dhaka and also another Master’s Degree in “Foreign Affairs and Trade” from Monsah University, Australia.
